你說得沒錯。在英語的語法歷史上，clothes曾經被當成不可數名詞。但近年來它逐漸地被當做了可數名詞，而且它與普通的可數名詞又有不同之處，那就是普通可數名詞可用數詞來修飾，如two books，ten persons 等，但clothes卻不能直接用數詞來修飾，如不能說 two clothes（X）。
英語中，clothes 總是成套出現的，如「一套衣服」可說成 a suit/set of clothes,不能用clothes來表達「一件衣服」.要表達「一件衣服」，要用clothing，即 a piece of clothing或an article of clothing。
回到本題，修飾clothes 當然要用many。
