四大灵猴指的是灵明石猴、赤尻马猴、通臂猿猴、六耳猕猴。

1、灵明石猴

传说中的美猴王孙悟空也就是灵明石猴，他通变化、时天时，知地利，相传他是由开天辟地遗留下来的仙石孕育而来，成为众猴之王后号称“美猴王”，后拜菩提祖师拜师学艺，得名孙悟空，还学会了七十二变、筋斗云等高超术法，后因大闹天宫被镇压，被唐僧救出后跟随唐僧经历九九八十一难后修成正果。

2、赤尻马猴
